Turn a Bubble app into an Android app

Bubble builds full web apps without code. A URL app wraps the live version, so every change you make in the editor ships to Android instantly.

Short answer

Deploy to live and use your custom domain (or yourapp.bubbleapps.io without /version-test) as the start URL. Make every page responsive in Bubble's responsive engine, reduce page-load workflows, swap Google/Facebook login plugins for email login in the app, and test the File Uploader and Picture Uploader elements.

Never use the test version

/version-test is your development branch, with test data. The app must point at live.

Bubble apps need speed work

Bubble pages load the app engine and run on-page-load workflows before showing anything. On mobile data that can mean several seconds of blank screen. Cut what runs on load, use “Do a search for” with constraints instead of loading everything, and split large single-page apps into reusable elements shown on demand.

Responsive engine

Test each page at 360px. Floating groups make good bottom navigation; set them to show only below a breakpoint.

Plugins that break in apps

  • Google / Facebook login plugins — blocked or unreliable in WebViews; offer Bubble's email login in the app.
  • Stripe checkout plugins — fine for physical goods; digital goods inside a Play app fall under Play billing rules.
  • Geolocation — needs the app's location permission.
